Curious innovators.

What we do via different technologies:

Charged Particle Optics - we explore better ways of accelerating, steering, and focusing ions and electrons, and use 3D printing to create new lens and structure designs.

Fast Timing and Electronics - we use cutting edge techniques to measure signal times down to 13 picosecond precision, and explore interconnect, PCB trace, and cable techniques to preserve detector time resolution through the acquisition chain.

Lasers and Light Optics - from high-stability diode lasers to tunable ultraviolet lasers for photoionization, we explore deep blue and near-UV colors for their short wavelength and high contrast materials properties.

Particle Detectors - photons, electrons, neutrons, ions and fundamental particles require a high-gain, low noise surfaces for detection. We are developing these jointly with nearby Argonne National Laboratory.

Vacuum Technology - new techniques are being explored to drastically lower the cost and scale of vacuum systems for containing things like particle detectors.
